Madisonville was settled in the late 1700’s, being officially established in 1809 as Madison, Ohio. Named after the newly elected President James Madison, it was later renamed Madisonville in 1826 to avoid confusion with another Madison, Ohio. The City of Cincinnati annexed Madisonville in 1911.
One of Madisonville’s key appeals is its central location along I-71. Only minutes from many of the region’s top shopping and entertainment choices, residents enjoy the attractions of both downtown and the suburbs. But there’s no need to travel far for most shopping, as Madisonville provides everything from large retail stores to small boutique shops.
Madisonville Recreation Center gives residents convenient access to a fitness center, gym, swimming pools, and ballfields. Other facilities include meeting rooms, a game room, and walking track. As part of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, the center provides programs for all ages, including many programs for seniors.
Located in the southern part of the Madisonville, Bramble Park is a local gathering place for both neighborhood and private events. Amenities include playgrounds, picnic shelters, and ball fields.
Combining affordable, old-world charm with easy access to popular shopping and entertainment destinations, Madisonville is a must-see neighborhood for the first-time home buyer.
